PLEASE HELP! im being bullied by a homeless person?

ok so i walk to my college every day and i always run into this homeless person who lives in the covenent house across the street from my college. anyway hes like mid twenties and like a druggie... everytime i walk past him hes like whistling or shouting things tryin to get my attention.. i was walking home one day holding a pack of cig, minding my own business.. when he stating yellin and asking for a cigarette. i purposely ignored him and kept walking.. so he started calling me names like *****, slut, ..infront of everyone.. i was humiliated.. and he kept chasing me up the street. anyway, he didnt do anything but im scared that if i run into him tomorrow, he might attempt to do anything? or hold me down.. i cant take any other route because it would take me ages to get to my cles and i already get there a little late.. what do you think i should do? i dont want to report as he hasnt really done anything and im scared he'll get angry.. but i know that hes pretty unstable cause he was walking down the street once yelling..{"i dare someone to hit me" like he was freakin stoned or something? plz help
