Religious observance in secondary schools in scotland?
Religious observance , whats it realy like in high school in scotland ? is it a series of moral plays with a q&a after , is it about singing hymns or jesus songs and then praying ? do ministers and other orted holy types come in for a wee chat , a moral tale (and a bit of recruiting on the fly ? )exactly what happens ? I asked the school and all i get in reply is a lot of waffle about spiritual education for the kids ??? what is that all about ?, are they trying to encourage religion in kids or turn them into narcisitic hippies?.I have been told that it is an inclusive meeting and that all the school can participate in whether they are religious or non religious . all I can say is that any time I look R.O. up online its all about religion and mostly presented in a christian style, im not religious as you may have guessed and my kids are not too keen on religion either, but I dont want them to have to sit outside the embly hall like dummies and have them getting talked about by teachers and more importantly by their friends, I would like (if anyone knows) to see some replies as to what actually happens during R.O. . my kids go to a non-denominational school I always thought that should mean no religious practices except for religious education . any and all answers will be appreciated.ps the school is in central scotland.
