Shaner Family HISTORY?

I asked a previous question about Shaner family history and recieved two answers but got busy and forgot to copy them down. If those two folks would kindly send me another answer it would be greatly appreciated. It was about finding Webster Shaner, my great grandfather, my grandfather Ritchie Reed Shaner born about 1890 ish....in Franklinn Co. PA I was told the family was originally German but imiigrated to Scotland, built a castle and Webster Shaner had to hav e a geneaolgy prepared to prove descent. But then he found out that the castle was ruins with high taxes. Does this sound familiar to anyone? My grandfathers first wife (Pearl)_ burned the genealogy. But wouldnt there be a record of this on file somewhere?
